The Lap axe™ is a versatile short scale electric travel guitar with a variety of features to please guitarists of all levels. The most obvious of features at first look is it's ¾ scale size. This provides an opportunity to take the Lap axe™ with you wherever you go and play in different situations, including as a carry on practice instrument for those long flights.
With most models of travel guitars, the short scale neck creates limitations with tuning. We ship and recommend the Lapaxe™ to be tuned a minor third above (G,C,F,Bflat,D,G), to achieve the most precision tuning results possible. The highest recommended alternative is tuning the lowest (6th)string up to a B, and each string accordingly. It is possible through a special set-up and custom adjustments to acquire good results with standard tuning, however that is not the standard set-up and requires a custom configuration by consultation and a special order set-up.
The Lap axe™ Deluxe, the first series to be released, is equipped with 2 mini Humbucker pickups providing versatility in tone and control. A single volume and tone control with a three way toggle switch gives the player a chance to acquire a variety of sound to accommodate a wide array of styles.
Travel Guitar
The Bell Brass hardware in several finishes gives each Lap axe™ a great appearance and the choices of Rosewood, Maple, and now bocote fingerboards allow the guitarists to choose the feel they prefer. The body and neck are made of one piece solid mahogany giving the Lap axe™ a solid feel and great sound. A wide array of custom tops are also available. The Lap axe™ can be used with an array of applications such as Amplitube via the Irig interface adapter on your iPad or iPhone, or use it with the new iKlip with iGigbook as well as with a prepamp or portable affect such as the Korg Pandora PX4D or the Korg mini Pandora, or the line 6 pocker pod.
All of these applications make traveling with your Lap axe™ a wonderful and easy way to practice, record or to just have fun!
We have also found the Lap axe™ to be a great performance instrument as the versatility in sound and portability makes it easy to take to your gig in standard tuning.
